Posters with Glossy UV Coating FAQs
What paper stocks can I choose for glossy UV posters, and how do they differ?
Options include 100 lb paper (flexible, good for indoor hand-posting), 10 pt/14 pt/16 pt cardstocks (stiffer for displays), and 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back (front is glossy UV; back is uncoated for writing). Heavier stocks resist curl and show-through better, especially for two-sided printing.
Can I write on a UV gloss poster, or add labels/stamps after printing?
UV gloss is slick and not pen/marker friendly. If you need to write, choose 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back with “Full Color Front, Blank Back” and write on the uncoated back. For the glossy front, use permanent labels instead of handwriting.
Are these UV-coated posters suitable for outdoor use?
They’re great for indoor or short-term covered use. UV gloss adds shine and scuff resistance but isn’t waterproof or sunfade-proof like laminated or synthetic stocks. For sustained outdoor exposure, use weatherproof materials or add protective lamination.
What sizes and quantities are available, and do I need bleed?
Sizes range from 8.5" x 11" up to 39" x 27" (including popular 18" x 24" and 24" x 36"). Quantities run 25–2000. Provide print-ready files with at least 0.125" bleed and keep text/logos 0.125" inside the trim (safe area) to avoid edge cutoffs.
How fast can you produce glossy posters, and does speed depend on size or stock?
Turnarounds include Same Day, Next Business Day, or 3 Business Days. Availability depends on selected size, stock, and quantity, smaller runs on common sizes/stocks qualify for faster options; larger formats or higher quantities may require more time.
