Compliance & Technical Standards for Posters with Glossy UV Coating

Material & Process Compliance

  • Substrate: Printed on premium poster papers: 100–200 gsm satin, gloss, or matte stock for indoor posters; 115–135 gsm blueback paper for outdoor and wheatpaste use. Conforms to ISO 536 (grammage) and ISO 2470-2 (brightness) specifications.
  • Printing Method: CMYK digital or offset process depending on run length. Eco-solvent or latex inks used for outdoor durability. All inks comply with REACH and RoHS directives.
  • Finishing: Optional aqueous, matte, or gloss coating for improved rub resistance. Cut and stacked within ±1 mm under ISO 12647-2 print control tolerances.
  • Adhesive Options: Wheatpaste-compatible stock designed for water-based paste adhesion; tested to ASTM D3330 for peel strength. No VOC or formaldehyde additives.
  • Compliance: FSC®/PEFC-certified paper sources; production under ISO 14001 environmental management systems. Inks meet EN 71-3 migration limits.

Dimensional & Build Standards

Attribute Nominal Tolerance Notes
Standard Sizes 11″×17″, 18″×24″, 24″×36″, or custom ±1 mm Same-day prints limited to in-house press sheet size
Thickness 100–200 gsm ±5% Base paper weight before coating
Print Resolution 720–1440 dpi ±5% Dependent on press and substrate

Environmental & Safety Disclosures

  • Material Safety: Inks and coatings are low-VOC under EU Decopaint Directive 2004/42/EC and safe for interior environments.
  • Recyclability: Fully recyclable as mixed paper; wheatpaste adhesives water-soluble and biodegradable.
  • Waste Management: Production waste recovered for pulping or fiber reuse per ISO 18604.
  • Energy Source: Printing powered by renewable or carbon-offset electricity where available.

Quality Assurance & Color Management

  • Color Control: ICC-profiled workflows aligned to FOGRA39 or FOGRA51 depending on coating.
  • Proofing: Digital proofs supplied; same-day runs verified via calibrated RIP output.
  • Inspection: Random samples tested for density, registration, and finish consistency. Reject threshold < 0.5% per lot.
  • Handling: Posters cured 12–24 hours pre-packing to prevent offset transfer or scuffing.

File Preparation Alignment

  • Bleed: 3 mm (0.125″) minimum on all edges; maintain 3 mm safe zone inside trim.
  • Resolution: 300 dpi for offset; 150 dpi minimum for large-format digital posters.
  • Color Mode: CMYK only; embed ICC profile. Avoid total ink coverage above 320%.
  • Text & Lines: Convert fonts to outlines; minimum stroke 0.3 pt.
  • Wheatpaste Artwork: Avoid heavy solids near edges to prevent paste haloing when mounted wet.

Legal & Marking

All artwork and logos reproduced under client license. Public installations must observe municipal display ordinances. No manufacturer branding appears on front-facing surfaces unless explicitly requested.

Posters with Glossy UV Coating FAQs

What paper stocks can I choose for glossy UV posters, and how do they differ?

Options include 100 lb paper (flexible, good for indoor hand-posting), 10 pt/14 pt/16 pt cardstocks (stiffer for displays), and 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back (front is glossy UV; back is uncoated for writing). Heavier stocks resist curl and show-through better, especially for two-sided printing.

Can I write on a UV gloss poster, or add labels/stamps after printing?

UV gloss is slick and not pen/marker friendly. If you need to write, choose 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back with “Full Color Front, Blank Back” and write on the uncoated back. For the glossy front, use permanent labels instead of handwriting.

Are these UV-coated posters suitable for outdoor use?

They’re great for indoor or short-term covered use. UV gloss adds shine and scuff resistance but isn’t waterproof or sunfade-proof like laminated or synthetic stocks. For sustained outdoor exposure, use weatherproof materials or add protective lamination.

What sizes and quantities are available, and do I need bleed?

Sizes range from 8.5" x 11" up to 39" x 27" (including popular 18" x 24" and 24" x 36"). Quantities run 25–2000. Provide print-ready files with at least 0.125" bleed and keep text/logos 0.125" inside the trim (safe area) to avoid edge cutoffs.

How fast can you produce glossy posters, and does speed depend on size or stock?

Turnarounds include Same Day, Next Business Day, or 3 Business Days. Availability depends on selected size, stock, and quantity, smaller runs on common sizes/stocks qualify for faster options; larger formats or higher quantities may require more time.
