What are black metal business cards made of, and how thick are they?

They’re produced on 0.5 mm stainless steel with an anodized black finish, in the standard US size of 3.5″ x 2″. The metal stock is rigid and provides a solid, durable feel.

How does the etching process work, and what’s “Full Bleed Etch” vs “None Bleed Etch”?

Acid etching removes select metal to create recessed areas; the etched zones appear lighter than the unetched surface, giving natural contrast. “None Bleed Etch Included” keeps etching within the design area, while “Full Bleed Etch” lets artwork etch to the edge and adds about 5% to the total.

What’s the difference between etching and laser engraving on these cards?

Etching uses acid to dissolve metal and create depth across defined areas. Laser engraving uses a laser to ablate the surface, producing crisp, high-contrast details (logos, text, symbols). Engraving can be applied front, back, or both, and can be combined with spot color.

Can you print colors on black metal cards, and how many per side?

Yes, spot colors can be added on the front and/or back, up to 4 colors per side. Spot inks lay on top of the black anodized surface for precise brand hues and can be combined with etched or laser-engraved elements.

Can each card have unique names or QR codes, and on which sides?

Yes, variable data is supported on the front and/or back. You can choose per-card changes as 1 spot color, laser engrave, or both (1 spot color + laser engrave) without interrupting production.
