Valentine’s Day Postcards FAQs

What sizes do you offer, and which ones mail at USPS “postcard” rates?

Pick from 3.5" x 8.5", 4.25" x 5.5", 4" x 6", 4.25" x 6", 4" x 9", 5" x 7", 5.5" x 8.5", 6" x 8", 6" x 9", and 6" x 11". For USPS First‑Class “postcard” rates, stay at or under 4.25" x 6" and a thickness up to 16 pt; larger or thicker pieces mail at letter/flat rates.

Which paper is best if I want to handwrite a message?

Choose an uncoated surface: 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated, 17 pt Cardstock Uncoated, or “14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back” (coated front for the photo, uncoated back for writing). Gloss and UV coatings resist pen ink and can smear.

What’s the difference between Gloss, Matte, and High Gloss UV coatings?

Gloss = shiny, punchy color, light scuff resistance. Matte = low‑sheen, soft look, easier to read, still not great for pens. High Gloss UV = ultra‑shiny, very scuff‑resistant, most ink won’t stick. UV is cured coating and is not writable.

Can you print full color on both sides, and will dark colors show through?

Yes, Full Color Both Sides is available. Heavier stocks (14 pt/16 pt/17 pt) minimize show‑through; 10 pt can show slight shadowing on heavy solids. Uncoated stocks reflect less glare for text‑heavy backs.

What turnaround options are available and how are deadlines handled?

Same Day, 1, 2, 3, or 5 business days. Same Day/fast turns require print‑ready approval by our cutoff; timelines are production time only, shipping or local pickup occurs after production.

How should I set up my artwork for best print results?

Export CMYK at 300 dpi with 0.125" bleed on all sides and keep key text 0.125" inside trim. Flatten transparencies, outline fonts, and supply a press‑ready PDF to avoid shifts.

What’s the practical difference between 10 pt, 14 pt, 16 pt, and 17 pt stocks?

10 pt = lighter, economical. 14 pt = standard premium feel (coated or uncoated options). 16 pt = extra‑rigid coated card. 17 pt Uncoated = thickest, pen‑friendly; note it may exceed USPS postcard thickness and mail at higher rates.

Do you print digitally or offset for these postcards?

Both. Small runs and rush jobs typically print digital for speed; mid‑to‑large runs (especially 1,000+) run offset for color consistency and unit cost efficiency. All options are full‑color CMYK.
