Church Postcards FAQs

What sizes can I order, and which ones qualify for USPS postcard or EDDM mailing?

Available sizes include 3.5" x 8.5", 4" x 6", 4.25" x 5.5", 4.25" x 6", 4" x 9", 5" x 7", 5.5" x 8.5", 6" x 8", 6" x 9", and 6" x 11". For USPS postcard rate, choose 4" x 6" or 4.25" x 6". Larger sizes mail at letter/flat rates; 6" x 11" qualifies as an EDDM flat. All offered cardstocks meet USPS minimum thickness.

Which paper and coating should I use if these will be mailed or written on?

Pick 14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back (C1S) or fully uncoated 14 pt/17 pt for a writable address/message side. Avoid High Gloss UV on the mailing/address side; it can resist inkjet addressing and smudge. Matte is more pen-friendly than gloss.

What coating options are available and how do they change the look and durability?

Front-only or both-sides: Gloss, Matte, or High Gloss UV. Gloss adds shine and pop; Matte reduces glare for a softer look; High Gloss UV is a thick, scuff-resistant varnish with maximum gloss. Use front-only coatings when you need a writable back.

Can you print full color on both sides, and will that delay production?

Yes, choose Full Color Both Sides or Full Color Front, Blank Back. Same Day turnaround is available when print-ready files are approved promptly; heavy ink areas on uncoated stocks will appear more muted than on coated.

How thick are the cardstocks in everyday terms?

Approximate caliper/GSM: 10 pt ≈ 0.010" (~230–250 gsm), 14 pt ≈ 0.014" (~300 gsm), 16 pt ≈ 0.016" (~350–400 gsm), 17 pt uncoated ≈ 0.017" (~400 gsm). Thicker stocks feel stiffer and more premium.

What file setup do you need for clean edges and accurate color?

Provide CMYK, 300 dpi PDFs with 0.125" bleed and 0.125" safe margins, fonts outlined, and transparencies flattened. Keep text/logos out of the trim area and avoid RGB or spot colors unless converted.

Are these postcards USPS automation compliant regarding thickness and finish?

All listed stocks exceed the 0.007" USPS minimum for postcards/flats. For machine readability, leave the addressing area uncoated (uncoated back or matte) and avoid High Gloss UV where barcodes/indicia print.
