Christmas Postcards FAQs

What sizes do you offer, and which qualify for USPS postcard-rate postage?

Sizes include 3.5" x 8.5", 4.25" x 5.5", 4" x 6", 4.25" x 6", 4" x 9", 5" x 7", 5.5" x 8.5", 6" x 8", 6" x 9", and 6" x 11". For USPS postcard-rate, choose 4" x 6" or 4.25" x 6" and a thickness between 7–16 pt (10, 14, or 16 pt). Larger sizes or 17 pt will mail at letter/flat rates.

Which cardstock should I choose for Christmas postcards?

10 pt is light and economical; 14 pt (coated) is standard and sturdy; 16 pt is extra-rigid and premium; 14 pt Uncoated and 17 pt Uncoated feel natural and are best for writing; “14 pt Uncoated Back” gives a coated front for photos with a pen-friendly back.

What’s the difference between Gloss, Matte, and High Gloss UV, and can I write on them?

Gloss boosts color and adds shine; Matte is low glare and elegant; High Gloss UV is ultra-shiny and highly scuff-resistant. Writing is easiest on uncoated areas. Choose “Uncoated Back,” “Matte Both Sides” (some pens), or fully uncoated stocks if you need to handwrite or inkjet address.

Can you print front only or both sides, and keep the back blank for addresses?

Yes. Choose “Full Color Front, Blank Back” for a clean, writable back, or “Full Color Both Sides” for designs on both sides. For mailing, pair front coatings with “14 pt Cardstock Uncoated Back” to ensure the address side accepts pen or inkjet.

What are your production speeds for holiday deadlines?

Turnarounds are Same Day, 1, 2, 3, or 5 business days. Short runs typically print digitally; high volumes shift to offset for consistency and lower unit cost. Production time excludes shipping; approve files early for on-time delivery.

What file specs should I use for the best print quality?

Provide CMYK, 300 dpi artwork at size with 0.125" bleed on all sides and safe margins of 0.125" inside trim. Keep text/vector over 100% K off rich black (use C60 M40 Y40 K100 for large solids), and convert spot/RGB to CMYK before upload.

Are these mail-ready, and what should I leave clear for USPS addressing?

They’re print-ready; addressing/indicia are up to you. Reserve a 4.25" x 2" clear area (bottom right of the address side) for the address/barcode, avoid dark backgrounds there, and skip UV on the address zone if you’ll inkjet. Use 7–16 pt for postcard-rate thickness.
