Gold Metal Business Cards FAQs
Are these cards solid gold or gold plated?
They’re stainless steel cards with a gold-plated surface (not solid gold). The core is steel for strength; the thin gold layer provides the color and sheen.
What size and thickness are the gold metal cards?
Standard US size 3.5" x 2" at 0.5 mm thick stainless steel, giving a rigid, credit‑card‑like feel.
What finish options do you offer, and which resists fingerprints best?
Mirror, Matte, and Brushed. Mirror is highly reflective and shows fingerprints most; Matte and Brushed diffuse reflections and hide fingerprints better.
What’s the difference between acid etching and laser engraving?
Acid etching removes metal chemically to create recessed, lighter areas (included as non‑bleed or upgraded to full‑bleed). Laser engraving ablates the surface (often exposing the steel under the gold) for crisp, high‑contrast marks; available front, back, or both.
Can you print colors on metal, and how many?
Yes, spot color printing up to 4 solid spot colors per side. Use solid inks (no gradients or photos) for best results on metal.
Can I personalize each card with different names or numbers?
Yes via variable data. Per side, choose variable data as 1 spot color or laser engraving, so individual names, titles, or codes change card‑to‑card without slowing production.
Can you print or engrave on both sides?
Yes. Options for front only, back only, or front and back are available for both laser engraving and spot color printing.
How durable is the gold plating and artwork?
The stainless core is very durable. The gold plating is wear‑resistant for normal handling but can show abrasion over time if scraped; etched and laser‑engraved details are recessed/permanent and won’t rub off.
What quantities can I order, and how do I supply my files?
Standard quantities: 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, or 1000 (ask for custom counts if needed). Upload separate front and back files during ordering; vector art is recommended for etch/engrave and spot colors.
